Simplifying business licensure

New legislation out of the House and Senate will create a general business license through the Business Licensing Service (BLS). This one-stop process for Department of Revenue-issued business licenses will allow small companies to conduct business across jurisdictions, whereas the old system was time consuming and oftentimes confusing. The simplification established in HB 2005 demonstrates a bipartisan interest in supporting our small businesses.

“This bill will help small businesses across Washington,” said State Representative Gael Tarleton. “Strengthening small business creates jobs and improves quality of life for every neighborhood in the 36th District.”

HB 2005 passed unanimously out of both the House and the Senate, and the House concurred with changes today. This bill now heads to the Governor’s desk.
