Students get hands on learning experience in Olympia

In the last couple of weeks, I sponsored two very smart and amazing students to Page in Olympia for a week this session.

Rep. Gael Tarleton with Page Reilly Carney-Woods

My constituents, Grace Johnson and Reilly Carney-Woods are both 8th graders who attend two middle schools in the 36th.

Meeting with them, and seeing them play a role in government is a perfect reminder of why we must fight to protect our education system and continue to provide opportunities so enthusiastic and hard-working students like Grace and Reilly can stay engaged in government and the community.

Rep. Tarleton and WWU intern Ben Reh

Ben Reh, who interned for my office this session was another extraordinary student who handled all aspects of the busy session with professionalism and his hard work was remarkable.

Ben attends Western Washington University where he is majoring in Economics. His policy analysis and writing skills were a huge help in working out many complex issues this session, especially in technology and economic development policy areas.

Having our young students in Olympia is the perfect example of government working by and for the people. It was inspiring to have them here this session.
