Rep. Jeff Morris statement on proposed solar legislation

Rep. Morris comments on attempt of California Solar Giant Solar City subsidiaries to grow AstroTurf in Washington State.

“I was disappointed to see that the front group for Solar City, The Alliance for Solar Choice (TASC), is moving to mislead Washingtonians into opposing solar legislation.

“TASC is group of LLCs that are owned largely by Solar City posing as a more diverse do-gooder group. They are intentionally deceptive.

“My legislation would support local solar leasing companies that provide access to people that can’t afford the high cost buying a solar system. If adopted the law would make green energy home a reality for all Washingtonians.

“During the recession the clean energy sector in Washington grew while other sectors shrank dramatically according a report from the SEIA.

“The missive from the Solar City conglomerate was ludicrous to suggest that I was trying to destroy what I consider one of my greatest legislative achievements in hammering out language on our the best-in-the-nation Net Metering Law for Solar in 1998.

“These ham-handed tactics may work in California but I’ve found our voters to be very adept at find out their own fact. I encourage you to read this message from South Sound Solar A leading solar installer in Washington for more information about this fraudulent petition and why you should make sure national groups can’t overshadow local solar companies.
