Rep. Morris Elected to National Conference of State Legislatures’ Board

morris125x150Representative Jeff Morris (D-Mount Vernon) has been elected by state legislators from across the nation to serve on the National Conference of State Legislatures’ Executive Committee.

The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) is a bipartisan organization that provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues. Morris was elected at their annual meeting which took place last month in Atlanta.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to join the NCSL Executive Committee and continue the great work of this organization,” said Morris. “I thank my colleagues from across the country for entrusting me with this responsibility.”

The NCSL Executive Committee is composed of 60 members from across the nation who are responsible for overseeing the over-all direction of the organization and ensuring that NCSL is fulfilling its mission. Members of the Executive Committee are chosen for their superior leadership skills, both in NCSL activities and their own state legislatures.

In addition to his work with NCSL, Rep. Morris has long been a national leader on energy and technology policy. He currently sits on the two national task forces on energy strategy and transmission, and has previous served as the Chair of the Council of State Governments-West and President of the Pacific Northwest Economic Region.

“There are immense challenges facing our environment and energy systems that can only be addressed through a unified effort among the states of our nation. I am honored to continue my work in these areas as a member of the NCSL Executive Committee.”
