Newborn Screening bill from Rep. Riccelli passes Senate

Yesterday the Washington Senate passed SHB 1285, legislation requiring that newborns be screened for critical congenital heart defects, authored by Rep. Marcus Riccelli, D-Spokane.

“This bill is an important step forward in filing some of the holes in our health care system, starting with making sure children get the necessary testing to detect and treat congenital heart defects,” said Rep. Riccelli. “We can do better, and we must. I want to thank all the stakeholders and advocates who worked with me and I look forward to the governor signing this bill into law.”
