September 21, 2009
OLYMPIA – On October 1, households across the 24th Legislative District –
which includes Clallam, Jefferson, and parts of Grays Harbor counties – will
receive a phone call from state Rep. Kevin Van De Wege at around 6 p.m.
Those who pick up will be invited to participate in a one-hour ‘telephone
town hall,’ during which they will have the opportunity to ask Rep. Van De
Wege questions directly.
This is the third legislative town hall that
Van De Wege has conducted by telephone. The last one was conducted in April
2009, just prior to the end of the 2009 Legislative Session.
“The
participation rate for these town halls is high. It’s like having a big
conference call with thousands of people across the district,” Van De Wege
said. “The 24th district is geographically very large, so this is the only
way for me to connect with a lot of people at the same time, and no one has
to travel anywhere.”
For the October 1 town hall, Van De Wege’s
number one priority is to listen to the concerns of constituents, and
respond to any questions they might have about issues such as the economy,
education, and the state budget. He will also give a brief update on what he
has been working on since the Legislature adjourned last spring.
Only
those with land lines will receive a phone call on October 1, so those
wanting to participate via cell phone can do so via a toll-free number,
which is 877-229-8493. When prompted to enter an ID code, participants
should use 13576. The number will be available from about ten minutes before
the town hall begins, until its conclusion around 7:00 p.m.
