David Frockt sworn in as 46th District Representative

OLYMPIA—David  Frockt was sworn in today as the new state representative for the North Seattle’s 46th Legislative District.

“My door is open, my e-mail, regular mail and phones are working, and I want everyone in the district to know that I’m here to listen to them and work for them,” Frockt said.

The new representative replaces Scott White, who was elected to the Senate after Ken Jacobsen announced that he was retiring. The 46th District will also continue to be served by State Rep. Phyllis Gutiérrez Kenney, who has represented the district since 1997.

Frockt, who lives with his wife and 7-year-old twins in North Seattle, has spent much of the past decade representing asbestos cancer victims with a Seattle law firm he co-founded. He’s also worked in telecommunications and once served as a Legislative Aide in the U.S. Congress, focusing on judicial and small-business concerns.

“I’ve always loved being an advocate for people and helping them tell their personal stories, and that is the kind of representative I intend to be,” Frockt said.

Frock says many of the personal stories he is hearing now are from people who are worried about their jobs or businesses or health insurance. But many are also concerned about how the state’s budget crisis could harm schools, colleges, the social safety net, and other public services.

“I’m also hearing from many people who agree that we need tax reform in addition to spending reform to address the budget crisis,” Frockt said.

Frock is also working on ideas to improve transportation, including better support for electric vehicles and giving Seattle more tools to save transit services from the budget axe.

Everyone who lives in the 46th District is encouraged to sign up for Rep. Frockt’s legislative Action Alerts, which will notify the district about emerging legislative news and issues and provide opportunities for submitting feedback.  Signing up is easy. Frockt will serve on four House committees: Education Appropriations & Oversight; Judiciary; Technology, Energy & Communications; and Rules, which is the committee that schedules bills for consideration by the full House of Representatives.

The 46th Legislative District includes the neighborhoods of Broadview, Bryant, Greenwood, Lake City, Haller Lake, Hawthorne Hills, Lake City, Laurelhurst, Maple Leaf, Matthews Beach, Northgate, Ravenna, View Ridge and Wedgwood, and Windermere.
