Fighting for Life

Rep. Freeman at Relay for Life

Earlier this month Rep. Freeman walked with cancer fighter, survivors and supporters at the Relay for Life at Saghalie Middle School in Federal Way.  Relay for Life is an overnight fundraising walk and run event.

Rep. Freeman is currently fighting cancer himself.  He attended to the event to support other cancer fighters and survivors.  There, he spoke with other participants, saying:

Rep. Freeman with Legislative Assistant, Martin Moore, at Relay for Life

“Cancer affects so many of us: mothers, fathers, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters. We all want to survive.  We all want to live to be 100. We all want to live to see our grandchildren.

I am encouraged by all the walkers I see here this evening. I am astounded by the advancements in medicine – new technology and therapies being created every day. These new treatments will save lives.  Cancer is beatable.

As a legislator I want to work to encourage medical innovation and access to quality, affordable healthcare.  These are key to fighting cancer and ensuring a healthy recovery for all.

I am confident that cancer will not be the end of our lives. We can win.”
