Rep. Elect Strom Peterson sworn in as new lawmaker

OLYMPIA – On the opening day of the 2015 legislative session, Representative-Elect Strom Peterson (D-Edmonds) was sworn in to the Washington State House of Representatives. Rep. Peterson represents the 21st Legislative District, which includes Edmonds, North Lynnwood and Mukilteo.

Peterson comes to the House after six years of service on the Edmonds City Council.

“It has been an honor to serve the people of Edmonds since 2009,” Peterson said. “I am humbled to represent the 21st District and continue working on priorities that matter to families from Edmonds to Mukilteo.”

Peterson is no stranger to public service, and was elected by his colleagues to serve as vice chair on the House Environment Committee. He will also sit on the House Capital Budget and Local Government Committees.

“Over the next two years, I plan to use my position to promote environmental sustainability, public safety and an improved quality of life for my community,” Peterson said. “There is no doubt that this session will be difficult, but I am confident that we will be able to forge ahead in creating a healthy, prosperous and fair Washington for all citizens.”

In addition to his term on the Edmonds City Council, Peterson has served on committees including the Regional Fire Authority, Lake Ballinger Watershed Forum, Edmonds Center for the Arts and Public Facilities District, Economic Development Committee, Public Safety Committee and on the Edmonds Rotary and Chamber of Commerce boards.
