The Washington Healthcare Exchange is here…and so is help!

Today is the day!  The Washington Healthcare Exchange is opening this morning, allowing consumers who do not have healthcare to purchase it on the open market.

Affordable access to healthcare is very exciting! But this new opportunity can also be healthcare exchange opensconfusing. Luckily, there are many resources at the fingertips of Washingtonians to help us along the way. The Health Care Authority and other state agencies are putting together information packets and tool kits for reform stakeholders and volunteers to use this fall and winter.

One of the best places to visit is wahealthplanfinder.org. Here you can compare plans, find one that fits your needs, and pick the one that is the best for you and your family. The Healthcare exchange also offers instructional webinars and videos

Governor Inslee, the Department of Health, and the Insurance Commissioner all offer resources as well. If you are a volunteer or a healthcare worker and want to inform your co-workers or patients about the different options available to them, there are posters available, free of charge.

If you prefer to talk with someone who can help you navigate the web, you can call 1-855-WAFINDER, Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM- 8:00 PM. Or, you can go to one of the many forums taking place throughout the next few months – there is sure to be one near you! Both over the phone assistance and in-person assistance are available in many languages.

However you sign up: online, over-the phone or in-person, just do it! Because, as the new ads say …”you don’t want to leave your health to chance.”
