The time has come for the annual 36th District Legislative Action Day in Olympia. If there is an issue being discussed this session that you would like to weigh in on, or if there is something you would like to bring to the attention of your legislators, come to Olympia on Monday, Feb. 17th, for the chance to meet with Senator Jeanne Kohl-Welles and Representatives Reuven Carlyle and Gael Tarleton to get your voice heard.

“Your ideas and comments are invaluable,” Carlyle said. “We’re really looking forward to having a substantive, authentic conversation about the issues facing our district and our state.”

“We are lucky in the 36th district to have such engaged citizens,” Kohl-Welles said. “I look forward to our district’s Legislative Action Day every year, as it is a great opportunity for my fellow legislators and me to hear directly from our neighbors about the issues that are important to them.”

“Constituent engagement is a critical part of the legislative process,” said Tarleton. “It’s absolutely essential that our neighbors make their voices heard and the 36th District Day in Olympia is a great way to do that.”

The day begins at 10 a.m. with hot drinks and snacks, and a preview of the day’s activities in room B-10 of the John L. O’Brien building. From 12:15-1:30, the three legislators will come and speak with constituents during a brown bag lunch. Capitol tours can be arranged, and the room will be available from 10 a.m. – 1:30 for rest or to be used as a home base.

As a reminder, February 17th is Presidents’ Day, so this can serve as a wonderful opportunity to bring your kids to the Capitol and let them see first-hand what goes on in state government.

Hot drinks and snacks are provided, but please be sure to bring your own lunch.
