Reps. Carlyle, Tarleton host “Coffee and Conversation” in Seattle neighborhoods

OLYMPIA – State Representatives Reuven Carlyle (D-Queen Anne) and Gael Tarleton (D-Ballard) will host “Coffee and Conversation” in four Seattle neighborhoods this Saturday.

The northwest Seattle lawmakers would like to hear from residents of the 36th legislative district – Ballard, Queen Anne, Magnolia, Belltown, Fremont, Phinney Ridge, Greenwood, and Blue Ridge – about the issues they care about.

The representatives will give a brief recap of the 2015 legislative session and highlight some of the challenges facing the state Legislature when it reconvenes in January. A large portion of the discussion will then be devoted to questions and comments from the participants.

“Conversations with our constituents are the most important part of the job,” Carlyle said. “This is where all issues are experienced and all solutions begin — on the ground, in the lives of real people. We accomplished a lot this session, but we have plenty of work ahead of us. We need to hear what matters most to you, and your participation in these conversations informs the work we do.”

“The recent teacher strikes across the state and here in Seattle serve as a stark reminder that the Legislature still needs to make good on its promise to fully fund education,” said Tarleton. “We’ve made progress, but there’s still a long way to go. Reuven and I would like to hear from members of our community about how they would like to solve our education challenges and any other issues that are on their minds.”
