Moms in the House!

Dear friends and neighbors,

We’re already halfway through the 2023 legislative session and three of my highest priority bills are moving forward!

This week, the Seattle Times published my opinion piece on the WRAP Act (HB 1131), my bill to tackle Washington’s growing trash problem. Did you know that more than 50% of consumer paper and packaging is going to landfills or incineration each year? Read it by clicking here.

Moms in the House!

As the proud mom of George, 6, and Eleanor, 3, it’s an honor to serve as Co-Chair of the legislative Moms Caucus! We’re committed to passing legislation and making budget investments that uplift Washington parents, families and children. Here are some of our top priorities this year:

  • HB 1525 expands access to childcare for parents in apprenticeship programs 👩‍🔧
  • HB 1238 expands access to free school lunches! 🍎
  • HB 1580 creates a system to support children in mental health crisis 🏥
  • HB 1186 provides housing assistance to reunite families with kids in foster care 🏠
  • HB 1106 expands access to unemployment insurance benefits for workers who leave their job due to conflicts with childcare and caregiving 👶
