Happy Holidays & Legislative Priorities

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I spent the summer and fall listening to you. What I heard was clear: our district is concerned about affordability, high-quality education for our children, safe neighborhoods, and protecting our state from the policy decisions of the Trump Administration.

In Olympia this session, I will be laser-focused on addressing these concerns and making Washington state the best place to live, work, raise a family, and retire.

I’m bringing back my bill that would ban noncompete agreements which stop workers from pursuing new employment. Whether it’s taking a new job with better pay or leaving to start your own company, opportunities to pursue your passion shouldn’t be blocked by your old job.

When it comes to keeping our communities safe from gun violence, I will continue the fight to require safe storage of firearms in vehicles (the #1 source of stolen guns!), ban 3-D printers that make dangerous ghost guns, and restrict firearms at state parks, state and local public buildings and county fairgrounds.

As a parent, I am very concerned about the use of cell phones in schools being highly disruptive to learning environments and its impact on our kids’ increasing rates of depression, anxiety and self-harm. Washington state has no statewide policy on cell phones in schools, and I want to support legislative efforts this year to change that.

Session Deadlines & How to Stay Involved

Your participation is vital to our democratic process! The Legislature offers in person, virtual, and written options for testimony on bills, and you can watch our work in committees and on the floor of the House from the comfort of your own home.

However you want to participate, I hope you will stay involved with our work. The only way we can function as a democracy is if we’re engaged and willing to listen to one another for the people of our state.

Below are the milestone deadlines so that we finish on time.

Happy holidays to you and your loved ones. However you choose to celebrate, I hope the end of the year brings joy, peace, and reflection.

Warmest wishes,
