OLYMPIA – The House Democratic transportation budget proposal released today includes $266.7 million for projects in the 1st Legislative District. Lawmakers from the area said this transportation budget proposal is a dramatic and important leap forward in:
- Keeping Washington’s communities connected.
- Strengthening Washington’s infrastructure.
- Creating family-wage jobs for Washington’s citizens.
State Reps. Luis Moscoso (D-Mountlake Terrace) and Derek Stanford (D-Bothell) were pleased with the multi-million package of maintenance, preservation and other highway-improvement projects in the proposed budget.
“I spent 25 years at Community Transit both behind the wheel of a bus and in management. The significance of these projects on improved access and mobility cannot be understated. I am privileged to vote for these specific projects that will help my neighbors and the community I live in,” said Moscoso who is a member of the House Transportation Committee.
From widening highways to adding signals and paving roads, these 15 projects will address congestion issues by increasing roadway capacity as well as safety issues through better maintenance.
“These investments in our public transportation infrastructure serve our communities by providing jobs in the near term and long term benefits of safer roads, more efficient access, and faster freight mobility,” said Stanford.
Moscoso and Stanford represent the 1st Legislative District, which includes Bothell, Mountlake Terrace, Brier, Maltby and parts of Lynnwood, Edmonds, and unincorporated Snohomish County. Here’s a general list of the 1st Legislative District projects included in the proposed transportation budget:
