WA to use federal utility funds to help people pay for air conditioning, not just heat
An existing federal program that could have helped tens of thousands of low-income households in Washington state acquire air conditioning during the heatwave but was not used is now being expanded. At least 138 people died from heat-related causes during the historic weather event, according to the state Department of Health. Up until now, renters who’ve been struggling financially have at least had some peace of mind. Even though many have lost employment or had their hours reduced during the pandemic, they mostly haven’t had to have to worry about losing their home. That’s because of eviction moratoriums. Coronavirus: Pfizer says vaccine prompts strong antibody response in children ages 5 to 11
Pfizer and BioNTech say their COVID-19 vaccine prompted a strong antibody response in children ages 5 to 11, and the companies plan to seek emergency use authorization soon from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. In a Monday news release, the drugmaker said early data from a Phase 2 and 3 trial showed “a favorable safety profile and robust neutralizing antibody responses in children 5 to 11 years of age” who received two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine.
