Rep. Tarleton elected Pacific Northwest Economic Region Vice-President

State Representative Gael Tarleton (D-Ballard) was elected as a Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER) Vice President last week during PNWER’s 27th Annual Summit in Portland, OR.

“It is an honor to represent my colleagues from both chambers and both sides of the aisle in PNWER’s efforts to expand public-private partnerships on cross-border trade, tourism, transportation, energy security, climate policy, and disaster resilience,” Tarleton said.

The PNWER is a unique bi-national advocate for shared economic interests among the U.S. Pacific NW states and Canadian NW provinces and territories. PNWER delegates are appointed by their respective legislative leaders to represent their caucuses.

“Throughout my career in public service and the private sector I have been a champion for international collaborations and regional solutions that expand people-to-people exchanges, fair trade and commerce, and equitable investments in critical infrastructure needs for our partners,” Tarelton said. “I look forward to the opportunities to learn from leaders in PNWER’s capitals so that we can address shared challenges and enjoy common benefits of regional cooperation.”

Gael Tarleton is House Majority Floor Leader and Vice Chair of the Technology and Economic Development Committee, and a member of the Transportation, Higher Education, and Rules committees. She has served as a WA State House delegate to PNWER since 2013 and serves as Co-Chair of the PNWER Tourism committee. She has been a featured speaker at several PNWER Annual Summits and will serve on the Host Committee for the 2018 PNWER Annual Summit, which will be held in Spokane, WA, at the Hotel Davenport Grande.
