In this second edition of Ask Strom, I answer questions about efforts to prevent evictions and to make our tax code less regressive.

We know rental assistance alone isn’t enough to keep people housed once the eviction moratorium ends, so we’re working to couple those investments with increased renter protections.

Also, did you know the state’s lowest-income residents pay six time more in taxes, as a share of their income, than the state’s highest income households, including some of the wealthiest individuals in the world? This is unconscionable and unsustainable. Washington’s wealthiest residents can and should pay their fair share to help fund education, child care, public health, housing, public safety, and other vital services. This session we can take a step closer to having a tax system that is equitable, adequate, sustainable, and that works for everyone to promote long-term economic growth in our state.

Thanks, and I hope to see you at our Virtual Town Hall,
