Friends and neighbors,
I want to invite you to join Senator Javier Valdez, Representative Darya Farivar, and me for a pre-Legislative Session Town Hall meeting from 6:00 – 8:00 pm this Thursday, Jan 8, at the North Seattle College Auditorium, which is located on the main floor of the library building. Check out this map for directions.

Town halls are a way for us to share with you our top priorities for this session and provide some updates on how our work is impacting the 46th district. More importantly, it’s a great opportunity for us to hear from you. Your ideas, questions, and experiences will guide our work in the Legislature.
Session priorities
As I prepare for session, I wanted to highlight some of my priorities for this session so you have a sense of what my efforts will look like in 2026.
- Continue to fight for government transparency and accountability, including new legislation to not let legislators have ten times weaker conflict of interest standards than local officials, and to ensure that reporters and you, the public, can see the records of who your legislators meet with and what they promise.
- Addressing the grocery store/supermarket and pharmacy closures that have harmed our communities.
- Working to fix our upside-down tax code, including stronger measurements and goals for our tax exemptions and “preferences”. If we are going to give a tax preference to an industry, we need to make sure we have measurable goals to ensure the preferences are doing what we want them to.
- Modernizing how we teach reading to include science-based approaches.
- Protecting the environment from microplastic pollution.
I look forward to hearing from you. If you can’t make our pre-session town hall, please reach out to my office with questions, thoughts, or suggestions. Your feedback is always welcome.
Thanks again,

Rep. Gerry Pollet]
