Virtual Drop-In Discussion on Saturday (“Traveling Town Hall”)

Friends and neighbors,

I would like to invite you to join me for my drop-in discussion (Traveling town Hall) on Saturday! Please join me from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Just sign up at the link below.

The big deadline for bills to get through the House or Senate was this week. We had several very late night sessions as we debated and passed really important legislation. And on Sunday, House Democrats will release a proposed supplemental budget.

I’m holding this week’s discussion time online to accommodate people who would like to participate in discussing proposals that may cut education – particularly special education and base funding for school districts, early learning and childcare, access to postsecondary education. I typically hold a discussion to help advocates in advance of the short timeline for people to testify in House Appropriations (on which I sit) and Senate Ways and Means.

Of course, our ability to fund education, health care and so much more will be greatly enhanced if we can pass what is being called the “millionaire’s income tax,” which would apply a 9.9% income tax on the income OVER a million dollars a year.  To make our tax system more fair, I believe this should include meaningful tax relief / reductions for our lowest income and working families. And, dedicating funds to our paramount duty of education.

You can join for the whole 90 minutes or for a portion. I’ll ask people to introduce themselves and what topic(s) you’d like to discuss. Then we go through each of the topics. Everyone is able to participate.

Thanks again,

Rep. Gerry Pollet
