We’re being squeezed by the cost of housing, groceries, gas, and monthly bills. That’s why I’ve passed policies that aim to lower everyday costs by expanding property tax relief for seniors and veterans, protecting people from unfair water-rate increases, and reducing out-of-pocket health care costs. And when a proposal came forward that raised gas prices even more, I voted no. I’m always fighting to make your life more affordable.
As Vice Chair of the House Education Committee, I passed policies that open more doors for our students and create pathways to good jobs by expanding career education into middle school, strengthening maritime and health care education, and providing better behavioral health supports in schools.
I’m working as hard as possible to fight for you, and it is an honor to serve as your state representative.
Successes in the 2026 Legislative Session:
Expanding Career Pathways and Good-Paying Jobs
- Opening doors to maritime and ferry careers (HB 1167): Washington’s ferry system needs more workers, and students should be able to see a real path into those careers. HB 1167 brings the maritime industry into the statewide task force to connect students with training and credentials.
- Helping students get a head start on good-paying careers (HB 1414): Too many students run into barriers when they move from the classroom into work. HB 1414 recommends changes to laws affecting the training and employment of 16- and 17-year-olds in career & technical education programs.
- Starting career education earlier (HB 1280/SB 5358): Students should not have to wait until high school to start exploring careers. HB 1280 is the House companion to the Senate bill that became law, expanding sixth-grade career and technical education and giving students an earlier start on hands-on learning and future job opportunities.
Lowering Your Cost of Living
- Stopping unfair water bill increases (HB 1906): When families are already stretched thin, they shouldn’t get hit with a surprise spike in the water bill. House Bill 1906 directs regulators to prevent excessive or sudden rate increases and requires more notice when water companies are sold or major upgrades are planned.
- Property-tax relief for disabled Veterans (HB 1106): For disabled Veterans living on fixed incomes, rising property taxes make it harder to stay in their homes. HB 1106 lowers the disability-rating threshold for property-tax relief so more disabled Veterans can qualify for help.
- Farm-fuel relief to help lower food costs (HB 1912): When fuel costs rise for farmers, those costs can make food more expensive for everyone. House Bill 1912 preserves fuel relief for agriculture and makes sure farm fuel users actually receive that relief.
- Benefit access for Veterans (HB 1102): Too many Veterans miss out on health care and disability benefits they have already earned, which can make everyday costs even harder to manage. HB 1102 requires outreach to discharged Veterans and expands access to Veteran Service Officers (VSOs) in counties where too few Veterans are receiving benefits.
- Lowering health care costs and improving access (HB 2618/SB 6226, HB 1669): No one should face bigger bills or more barriers just to get the care they need. I cosponsored legislation to lower out-of-pocket costs for prosthetic and orthotic care and introduced the House companion to a Senate bill protecting audiologists’ ability to provide telehealth hearing care.
Building the Future Economy
- Building our fusion energy future (HB 1018): Reliable, affordable energy is essential for our future, and Washington is now racing to build the world’s first fusion plant. HB 1018 creates a streamlined permitting path for fusion facilities, ensuring Washington leads in the next generation of clean energy.
- Helping people tell what’s real with artificial intelligence (HB 1170): As artificial intelligence makes it easier to create realistic images, video, and audio, people should have a way to know what they are looking at. HB 1170 requires artificial intelligence providers to offer tools that help users know when content was generated or altered by artificial intelligence.
