Rep. Stanford helps secure $1 million for Wayne land; $1.3 million for Mountlake Terrace revitalization

OLYMPIA – Yesterday lawmakers approved the final parts of a capital budget that will invest $3.9 billion across the state in important projects like classroom construction and create more than 45,000 jobs. The budget allocates more than $7 million for the greater Bothell area, including $1 million for Wayne land preservation — $500,000 in local projects and $500,000 for the Salmon Recovery Funding Board. This week the House passed HR 4641 expressing our condolences for the people of Nepal in the wake of the massive earthquake on April 25th. We will be sending the resolution to the Embassy of Nepal and the Nepal Seattle Society. House passes Stanford bill to improve railroad worker safety

OLYMPIA – Today the House of Representatives voted 84-14 to pass Rep. Derek Stanford’s (D – Bothell) bill to strengthen safety regulations for the transportation of railroad workers to and from work. Prior to 1977, railroad companies operated van services to transport railroad employees between various work locations throughout the state. The Utilities and Transportation Commission was given oversight over the safety of the van service, and established safety regulations regarding drivers and vehicle conditions. House passes Stanford bill to strengthen drought preparedness

OLYMPIA – The House of Representatives voted 57-41 to pass Rep. Derek Stanford’s (D – Bothell) bill to strengthen the state’s drought preparedness plans. Currently in Washington, the Department of Ecology is at the ready to establish a Joint Legislative Committee on Water Supply During Drought in the event of a water shortage.
