Is there dangerous radon in your home?

Radon is a gas you can’t see or smell. It’s a silent killer, a cause of radiation and illness, including lung cancer.

So how can you tell if your family is breathing radon at home?

The state Department of Health has some answers. It recently released a study and a statewide map of areas where radon is more common.

If you live in a higher-risk area, there are test kits you can buy to detect radon. If the gas is in your home, it will be coming from the soil and rocks. Basically, your basement.
