House Democrats applaud bi-partisan redistricting process

The bi-partisan Washington State Redistricting Commission submitted their final plan to the Legislature just in time to meet the January 1, 2012 deadline. The plan was unanimously approved by all four commissioners.

“Redistricting is a huge undertaking that, in many states, results in political gerrymandering for the benefit of the party in power,” said House Democratic Majority Leader Pat Sullivan (D-Covington). “The system Washington voters put in place is much better, as I think we can see from the plan announced on New Year’s Day.  Congratulations to the Commissioners and staff for their hard work!”
