A quick guide to the 2024 session, including key issues and how you can participate

Dear neighbors,

It’s been my pleasure to travel throughout the 24th District to meet with constituents and community leaders.

My focus is on how we can work together, as partners, to get things done. Thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to visit and talk about solutions.

I’m also happy to say there are construction projects happening in every corner of the 24th District, with folks in hard hats busy building schools, parks, and vital infrastructure. Those projects are creating jobs today building a better future for all of us.

It’s been my honor to serve as Chair of the Capital Budget Committee, which funds those projects. I know how hard communities worked to turn their dreams into concrete and steel—or cross-laminated timber.

A new year and a new session

This year, the Legislature meets for 60 straight days, including weekends.

Major issues include:

  • housing and homelessness
  • treatment for mental health and addiction
  • health care
  • education and workforce shortages

Please feel free to stand up and speak out this session.

Your ideas and stories are helpful when I’m fighting for legislation and funding that will help the people of the 24th District.

It’s easier than ever to participate:

  • Watch committee hearings, floor debates, and other events live at tvw.org
  • Read any legislation or amendment at app.leg.wa.gov/billinfo/
  • Testify on a bill in committee in person or remotely by visiting leg.wa.gov/legislature/Pages/Testify.aspx
  • Call or email my office, or come visit me in Olympia!
