Celebrate the life of Rep. Roger Freeman

Rep. Freeman took us all in the state Capitol by storm. It was difficult not to notice the fashionably-dressed representative who marched down the halls of the legislature with a spring in his step, a grin on his face, and a kind greeting for anyone crossing his path. His energy, vitality and enthusiasm were contagious.

Rep. Freeman was a smart man who took his job as a legislator very seriously. He was willing to work with anyone – a shining example of bipartisanship – making friends across the aisle and the chamber. He felt it was his duty to stand up for those without a voice. Rep. Freeman sponsored legislation to ensure firefighters and police officers are able to get the medical care they need, and helping parents with disabilities care for their children. He believed deeply in dignity & respect for all; and that everyone, no matter their background or ability level, be given the opportunity to live a purposeful life.

Rep. Freeman had a certain way of speaking and listening that made you know he truly cared. He was a devoted father, husband and legislator who brought an intangible spark and joy to all whom he touched. He was only our colleague for two years, but he made a mark that will stay with us for a lifetime. His will be profoundly missed.
