Seattle Times: Distracted-driving bill approved by Washington state lawmakers

Legislators are sending a measure to the governor’s desk that cracks down on the use of handheld electronic devices behind the wheel. It goes into effect on January 1, 2019. Rep. Jessyn Farrell, D-Seattle, prime sponsored the House version of the bill, HB 1371, and championed the Senate companion, SB 5289. The final bill had support from both sides of the aisle.
