Rep. Kristine Lytton elected Deputy Majority Floor Leader in Olympia

State Rep. Kristine Lytton (D-40th, Anacortes) was elected Thursday by her fellow House Democrats to serve as Deputy Majority Floor Leader during the upcoming 2013-14 legislative sessions.

In her role as Deputy, Lytton will continue to work with the Majority Floor Leader and the Speaker of the House to manage the floor calendar and the structure of the floor debate.  As a freshman in 2011-2012, she served as Assistant Majority Floor Leader.

“This is going to be one of the most crucial sessions in memory,” said Lytton, whose legislative district includes San Juan County and significant parts of Whatcom and Skagit counties.  “The decisions we make as lawmakers could shape Washington’s schools, jobs and the overall economy for many years to come. I’m honored that my peers have put me in a position to help lead when it comes time to make those decisions as a legislative body.”

The 2013 legislative session begins its 105-day term January 14 in Olympia.
