Background – Army chief warrant officers Andrew Cully, 35, of Sparta, Mo., and Andrew Kraus, 39, of Sanibel, Fla., were killed along with two sergeants from Washington: Donavon Scott, 25, of Tacoma, and Jadalyn Good, 23, of Mount Vernon when the MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter they were aboard crashed last week near Olympia.
Statement from Co-Chairs Leavitt and Wagoner, Joint Committee on Veterans’ and Military Affairs:
We are heartbroken to learn of the tragic loss of four soldiers in the 28th in the weekend’s helicopter crash. Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends, and fellow service members who are grieving during this unimaginable time.
These soldiers dedicated their lives to serving our nation and community. Their courage, commitment, and ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten.
As Co-Chairs of the Joint Committee on Veterans’ and Military Affairs, we are committed to ensuring that Washington continues to support our service members, veterans, and their families — from strengthening military safety and readiness to expanding resources that honor their service. In moments like this, we are reminded of the importance of our responsibility to stand alongside those who wear the uniform and those who love them.
Washington is proud to be home to so many military families, and in this time of sorrow, may we all come together to support them and ensure their loved ones feel the enduring gratitude of a grateful state.
Sincerely,
Representative Mari Leavitt, 28th LD and Senator Keith Wagoner, 39th LD
