Rep. Laurie Jinkins, D-Tacoma, appeared on Newsline PM with Ken Schram on Feb. 17, 2011, to discuss her bill HB 1801. Jinkins says the bill is a conversation starter about the ways the state might buy healthier food in an effort to decrease obesity, chronic disease and health care costs. The purchasing procedures would apply only to the food bought by the state.
