In 2012, a bipartisan group of Washington legislators stood up for LGBTQ couples by voting “Yes” for marriage equality. Opponents sent the issue to a vote of the people, which Washington voters overwhelmingly approved.
Today, Washington legislators and staff took to the steps of the capitol building to stand together, celebrate and thank the Supreme Court for its landmark decision in Obergefell v. Hodges, which held that all couples are equal under the Constitution, securing marriage equality in all 50 states.
