State Rep. Jim Moeller’s statements on the Thursday, March 17, 2011, state-revenue forecast

“I’m no different from any other legislator or citizen: I continue to be very disappointed in the ongoing reduction of revenue available for programs that help our most vulnerable citizens and families. However, I will say that this continuing downturn was not unexpected.”

“In the weeks ahead, we must answer the call for making responsible decisions in tough times.”

“I will work for our constitutionally mandated ‘paramount duty’ to fully fund education. I will work just as hard for our moral duty to make sure that no children go without good medical care and that no vulnerable citizens, no aged or disabled family members or neighbors are told to fend for themselves.”

“We are one Washington. We don’t turn our backs when our neighbors are in need.”

“We must rekindle and reassert our state’s momentum on a strong foundation of educated, hard-working citizens. We must advocate and advance opportunities for every one of our workers, our small businesses, and our cutting-edge industries.”
