Washington STEM

The Washington STEM organization, launched in the spring of 2011, is dedicated to advancing equity, excellence, and innovation in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education. The organization believes that by accelerating student success, it will ensure that all Washington youth—regardless of race, ethnicity, income, or gender—have a brighter future, strengthening the vitality and prosperity of our communities and our state.

To date, Washington STEM has committed over $3 million reaching more than 500 teachers and 16,000 students across the state, improving opportunities for those students most underserved and underrepresented in STEM fields.

Washington STEM is launching investments in STEM Networks, which will support communities and regions in the state as they revitalize STEM education and drive local economic development.

Launching this month is the South King County STEM Network ($270,000).

The South King County STEM Network will weave STEM education outcomes into the already-established Road Map Project, impacting seven districts in the region. Prioritizing STEM will advance the Project’s goals to close the achievement gap and double the number of students who are on track to graduate from college or earn a career credential by 2020, fueling the Puget Sound’s robust STEM economies.

As always, please contact me with your questions or concerns.  I appreciate the opportunity to serve you in the 33rd legislative district!

Sincerely,

Tina
