Esper defends as fair Pentagon contract disputed by Amazon
U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper said Friday he was certain that the awarding of a $10 billion cloud-computing contract to Microsoft instead of Amazon was done fairly. The Pentagon awarded the contract to Microsoft in late October, and Amazon said there was “unmistakable bias” on the government’s part and it intended to challenge the decision in court. Washington Supreme Court upholds Seattle’s first-come, first-served law for renters
The Washington state Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a Seattle law that requires landlords to publicize their criteria for prospective renters and accept the first qualified applicant. The Seattle Times reports that the court reversed a decision by a King County judge last year to strike down the first-come, first-served law for renters, which was adopted by the City Council in 2016.
