Biden on cusp of presidency after gains in Pennsylvania
Democrat Joe Biden was on the cusp of winning the presidency on Friday as he opened up narrow leads over President Donald Trump in the critical battlegrounds of Georgia and Pennsylvania. Those put Biden in a stronger position to capture the 270 Electoral College votes needed to take the White House. Washington Supreme Court rules dairy workers must get overtime
A deeply divided Washington Supreme Court on Thursday ruled 5-4 in favor of farm laborers, saying dairy workers in the state should have received overtime pay as part of the Washington Minimum Wage Act. While the decision came from a case brought by dairy workers, it appears the ruling will require all farmers to pay overtime. However, it’s not yet known whether those farmers will have to pay overtime retroactive to the suit’s filing , said Jay Gordon, policy director for the Washington State Dairy Federation. Washington State Senate to mix in-person and virtual work during 2021 session
Many of the Washington State Senate’s operations will be virtual when it convenes in January, according to its COVID-19 plan for the 2021 legislative session. Committee meetings and public testimony will be virtual, legislative buildings will be closed to the public, and some votes on the floor will be cast through a video system, according to the plan the Facilities and Operations Committee passed 4-3 Thursday.
