HOUSE DEMOCRATS

Moving to the Senate

Dear 11th District constituents,

After seven years serving you in the House of Representatives, you have once again placed your trust in me to represent your interests, but this time in the Washington State Senate.  I cannot thank you enough for giving me this great honor.

I realize filling the shoes of our longtime Senator Margarita Prentice is not easy; in fact, I do not intend to do that. Instead, I will follow her steps and build on the excellent work she has carried out for the people of our district and our state.

I hope my determination and commitment to continue fighting for justice and equality will bring fresh ideas to the Senate to help our state move forward. I believe our regressive tax system needs a serious overhaul.  Relying on the sales tax as our main source of revenue is not sustainable. It hurts our most vulnerable residents; we need to close loopholes and think outside the box to come up with a better plan.

Thank you for working closely with me all these years. I have greatly appreciated your calls, emails, letters, and visits. Your insightful contributions have helped shape measures that create jobs, develop our economy, and increase access to education and health care. In my new position as your senator I ask that you continue sharing your concerns with me and providing me with your ideas to improve our district and state.

My website in the Senate is not up yet, but if you look for me here in January, you’ll find me. In the meantime, I am at your service in the House until the start of the 2013 legislative session.

Thank you very much,

Bob
