1st District lawmakers invite citizens to Saturday, March 16, Town Hall

The three 1st Legislative District lawmakers are looking forward to hosting their first Town Hall meeting of the new year Saturday afternoon, March 16, in Bothell. The meeting will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the multipurpose room of Bothell’s Northshore Senior Center, which is located at 10201 East Riverside Dr.

State Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe, and state Reps. Derek Stanford and Luis Moscoso comprise the 1st Legislative District delegation to the 63rd Washington State Legislature. McAuliffe, Stanford, Moscoso, and the 144 other legislators are almost halfway through their 2013 session work.

Recent Washington State Supreme Court rulings on education-funding and tax-bill voting thresholds are certainly the center of attention in Olympia. But the three 1st District legislators have their hands full with plenty of other critical matters.

Specifically: McAuliffe, in her work as the ranking member of the Senate Early Learning & K-12 Education Committee, addresses topics which hit home in every Washington community. Her two colleagues across the Capitol Rotunda are in on state-budget deliberations — Stanford as the vice chair of the House Capital Budget Committee, and Moscoso as vice chair of the House Transportation Committee.

The three legislators all emphasized their great gratitude to folks at the Northshore Senior Center for graciously making their excellent facilities available for the meeting. The solons also join in looking forward to the Town Hall for engaging discussions with constituents on important matters of state policy.
