House Appropriations Chair Ross Hunter issued the following statement on Governor Inslee’s budget and revenue proposal:
“Governor Inslee’s proposal focuses on funding education and responsible budgeting – these are the right priorities for Washington.
The $1.26 billion in additional spending for K-12 education, on top of the maintenance level, is in the right ballpark. We are still looking at the details, but I think it’s a solid proposal and we will be in broad agreement with him.
I applaud the governor for making hard but sustainable revenue decisions. These may not be the exact decisions our caucus will make, but it is very appropriate for us to look at the value of return we’re getting from some tax loopholes that have been on the books, without review, for decades.”
