Washington state has long lead the nation in expanding access to affordable and quality health care for all.
Case in point: House Democrats didn’t wait around for the Supreme Court to rule on Obamacare last summer. We passed legislation to ensure that Washington would be ready to make health care more accessible, portable, and affordable once the ACA provisions are implemented months ahead of the Supreme Court’s ruling.
A critical component of health care reform is the exchange – an online marketplace for insurance. Washington Healthplanfinder, the fancy name for our exchange, is one step closer to being up and running on-time by October 1st of this year.
According to the Washington Health Benefit Exchange, nine health insurance carriers have submitted 57 different plans to the Office of the Insurance Commissioner. These plans will be offered on the exchange, giving Washington consumers plenty of options to meet their individualized needs.
However, it’s not just about choices. Consumers already had plenty of choices when it comes to their health care.
In some cases, Healthplanfinder also offers lower premiums. More options and lower costs equal out to a real win-win for Washingtonians.
