OLYMPIA – The Governor has signed into new state law a measure offered by state Rep.Zack Hudgins (D – Tukwila) that streamlines the appeals process at the state Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) and lengthens the time allowed to comply with regulations.
Hudgins introduced House Bill 1055 as part of a “good governance” package targeted at the Department, modernizing many of their rules and regulations and saving taxpayer dollars in the process. The measure passed both the House and Senate unanimously.
“Building contractors confused by the agency’s rules will see a marked improvement thanks to this and others bills we passed this year,” said Hudgins, the Chair of the House General Government Appropriations & Oversight Committee, where as a member, he championed several government-efficiency improvements. The committee manages the funding and oversight of general government, natural resources, and corrections programs and agencies, and makes funding recommendations to the final fiscal committee, the Ways and Means Committee.
“In these tough times, it’s more important than ever to find news ways to save taxpayer dollars, and find ways to assist our employers meet our state’s guidelines.”
