At home, from your phone – local residents invited to join legislative telephone town hall on June 22

Rep. Mary Helen Roberts to discuss the recently-ended 2011 session

OLYMPIA – Next Wednesday evening, June 22, households across the 21st Legislative District will receive a phone call from State Representative Mary Helen Roberts (D-Edmonds). Those who pick up will be invited to participate in a one-hour telephone town hall during which they can learn about the recent legislative session and share their thoughts and questions with the local legislator.

Only those with land lines will receive a phone call, but those wanting to participate via cell phone or from somewhere other than their home can call toll-free 877-229-8493 and enter ID code 15487. The number will be available about ten minutes before the town hall begins at 6 p.m.

This will be the second telephone town hall to be hosted by Roberts, who serves as vice-chair of the House Early Learning & Human Services Committee. She says she’s been receiving hundreds of questions about what happened this session including concerns about budget cuts, changes to how certain programs and services will be delivered, and the status of various proposals such as ferry reforms. Roberts says the telephone town hall is one of the easiest ways she’s found to speak with residents and respond to questions.
