Morrell tapped to lead key sub-committee

When the legislative session begins next week, State Representative Dawn Morrell will take on a new role as chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services. The subcommittee will be responsible for making funding recommendations for critical health and human services programs and agencies.

“Over the last few years the legislature has either cut or eliminated entirely programs that are both cost-effective and vital to healthy communities,” said Rep. Morrell. “As we look towards the coming session, my personal goal is to ensure that every tax dollar allocated for health and human services is being used effectively and efficiently while meeting our citizens’ most basic of needs in these tough times.”

In addition to her subcommittee chairmanship, Rep. Morrell will sit on the Appropriations Committee. She will also serve on the Health Care and Wellness Committee and the Technology and Economic Development Committee.

Rep. Morrell will be sworn in for her fifth term when the legislature convenes on January 15th. She represents the 25th legislative district, which includes the cities of Puyallup and Fife, as well as portions of Tacoma and the unincorporated Pierce County communities of Midland, Parkland, Summit-Waller, South Hill, North Clover Creek Collins and Summit View.
