With a boost from House Speaker Frank Chopp, state Rep. David Sawyer of Tacoma is in line to help provide intervention and services to better the lives of infants and toddlers with disabilities.
Sawyer has been nominated by Chopp to serve on the State Interagency Coordinating Council for Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities and their Families, formerly (and still officially) known as the Birth-to-Six Interagency Coordinating Council. Gov. Inslee makes the formal appointment on the advice of the Speaker.
The council coordinates and promotes development of a statewide system of accessible services for the infants and toddlers. It was created by the Legislature in 1992.
Sawyer, first elected to the Legislature in 2012, is a member of the House Early Leaning & Human Services Committee.
