Since hitting a high in April of 2014, gas prices in Washington have fallen 44 cents per gallon – a decline that ranks second only to Oregon among U.S. states.
The information was put together as part of a broader study by AAA on the price of gas across the United States, which shows that Washington and Oregon are at the forefront of a nationwide decrease in the price of gasoline. The average price of gas in the United States has decreased consecutively for 46 straight days – a new record – and now sits at $2.93 nationally.
The average price in Washington state is now $3.10 per gallon. That’s down 23 cents from the average cost in November of 2013, and way below our state’s high of $4.35 per gallon during the summer of 2008.
This news comes as the legislature continues to debate a multi-billion dollar investment in our transportation system – a much needed update that would create as many as 100,000 jobs and reduce congestion on our gridlocked highways.
