McBride celebrates the Cross Kirkland Corridor

Olympia Rep. Joan McBride (D-Kirkland) spoke at the Community Celebration and Dedication of the Family Fitness and Play Area on the Cross Kirkland Corridor at Google on Monday August 31st.

“I’m proud that in the 48th District we have great public-private partnerships, like the one between the City of Kirkland and Google,” said Rep. McBride. “I’m grateful to the City of Kirkland and Google for their work to make this amazing public amenity a reality.”

When Rep. McBride was the Mayor of Kirkland, she was instrumental in the city acquiring the Cross Kirkland Corridor.

Cross Kirkland Corridor traverses Kirkland, from the South Kirkland Park and Ride to the City’s northern boundary in the Totem Lake Business District. In 2012, the City of Kirkland purchased a 5.75 mile segment of the Eastside Rail Corridor and has been actively embracing the community energy around the corridor’s future development as a multi-modal transportation corridor.

Rep. McBride serves the 48th Legislative District, which includes Kirkland, Redmond, Bellevue and the Point Cities. She formerly served as Kirkland Mayor and on the City Council.
