Newly Sworn In, Rep. Noel Frame Affirms Dedication to Education with School Visit

OLYMPIA — After being appointed by the King County Council to fill a vacant seat in the 36th Legislative District, State Representative Noel Frame (D-Seattle) quickly took the oath of office and announced she would be visiting the classroom of a Teacher of the Year winner in a local school.

“Growing up in Battle Ground, experiencing firsthand how overcrowded and underfunded classrooms can impede a quality education, I am frustrated that our state still hasn’t fulfilled our paramount duty to our kids,” said Frame. “Knowing that students today are experiencing what I went through two decades ago is my motivation for being a leader on education funding.”

On Friday at 9:00 am, Frame will visit the classroom of Lyon Terry, Washington’s 2015 Teacher of the Year, who teaches fourth grade at Lawton Elementary in Magnolia.

“Lyon is an example of what excellent educators look like, because he puts the students in his classroom first. His commitment extends beyond the classroom by connecting with the community to enhance student learning and teaching students to be thoughtful citizens. If we’re going to give our kids their constitutionally guaranteed right to a good education, Washington lawmakers need to work as hard for our kids as Lyon does,” Frame added.

Frame is a communications and management professional who resides in Greenwood. She was appointed to fill the seat vacated by former State Rep. Reuven Carlyle.
