Why: To discuss education bills that address some of Seattle School District’s most urgent problems. Some of the bills being discussed are:
HB 2881 – Responding to the educator shortage crisis by increasing training, recruitment, and retention, in order to enable Washington to lower class sizes.
HB 2837 – Establishing a legislative task force on common school class size in school districts with more than forty-five thousand students.
SB 5859 – Concerning the school construction assistance program.
SB 6298 – Enacting the homeless student stability and opportunity gap act.
SB 6259/HB 2851 – Increasing compensation for school directors in districts enrolling twenty thousand or more students.
