We kept our promise to keep schools whole and passed the bill to extend the levy cliff this morning. SHB 1059 passed 62-35. SHB 1059 will allow school districts to plan for next school year without deep cuts to staff and programming.
Our eyes now turn to the Republican-controlled Senate. It’s our state’s job to fully fund education, and passage of HB 1059 is a critical part of keeping our promise. A vote against HB 1059 is a vote against funding education. We must encourage the Senate to bring the bill to the floor for a vote. A vote against this bill is a vote against funding education.
