What: Public hearing on House Bill 2406 concerning election security practices around auditing and equipment, and House Bill 2455 increasing transparency of campaign contributions by creating the Disclose Act.
When: Friday, January 12, at 10:00 a.m.
Where: House Hearing Room E, John L. O’Brien Building
Why: HB 2455 (prime sponsored by Rep. Mike Pellicciotti) would require 501 (c)(4) organizations that participate in political action to disclose who is funding their activities. HB 2406 (prime sponsored by Rep. Zack Hudgins) would require county auditors to audit election, prior to certification, using one of four prescribed methods. It also requires disclosure of manufacturer or distributor security systems breaches, and allows the Secretary of State to decertify voting systems or components that fail to disclose breaches or no longer conform to accepted security requirements.
