Despite Washington state’s new sanctuary law, some local officials still cooperate with ICE and Border Patrol
Earlier this year, Maria del Rayo Mendoza Garcia was arrested and booked into the Okanogan County jail for fourth degree assault. Two days later, a Border Patrol agent interviewed her at the jail. Later that same day, a state court ordered Mendoza’s immediate release. But instead of releasing her immediately, Okanogan County officials continued to detain Mendoza, even notifying Border Patrol and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement of her pending departure, according to a lawsuit involving her case. FAA won’t clear 737 MAX fixes until 2020, agency chief says
U.S. government approvals needed to return Boeing’s 737 MAX to the skies won’t be completed until 2020, the top U.S. aviation regulator said Wednesday, dashing the company’s hopes to complete key milestones this year needed to end the aircraft’s nine-month grounding. “If you do the math, it’s going to extend into 2020,” Federal Aviation Administration Administrator Stephen Dickson told CNBC on Wednesday, hours before he is expected to testify before a congressional panel.
